Auf Einladung der Kulturabteilung der Stadt Pulheim
realisierte der in Berlin lebende Künstler Michael
Sailstorfer sein Projekt »Pulheim gräbt« im Rahmen der Reihe
»Stadtbild. Intervention«. Auf einem brach liegenden
städtischen Grundstück an der Jakobstraße
(gegenüber ALDI und Getränkemarkt) vergrub
Sailstorfer im August 2009 Gold imWert von 10.000 Euro;
insgesamt 14 Barren a` 10 Gramm und 14 Barren a` 20
Gramm.
Im
Anschluss daran säte er auf der Freifläche gelben Senf aus.
Nach der Pressekonferenz im Puhlheimer Rathaus am 29. Oktober
2009 übergaben die Stadt Pulheim und der
Künstler die Brachfläche offiziell der
Bevölkerung.Damit waren alleMenschen eingeladen, auf diesem
Gelände in Pulheim nach Gold zu graben und ihr
Glück zu finden ... und in Puhlheim brach das
Goldfieber aus!
Begleitend ist eine vomKünstler konzipierte
Dokumentationsmappe entstanden, die mit zahlreichen
Fotografien, Pressetexten, einem Interview und einem Essay die
spektakuläre Aktion, die für grosse Medienresonanz
sorgte, nacherlebbar werden lässt.
Michael Sailstorfer studierte an der Akademie der Bildenden
Künste in München bei Olaf Metzel und
am Goldsmiths College in London. Er nahm unter anderen an der
Ausstellung »Made in Germany« in der Kestner Gesellschaft,
Hannover, teil, an der »Manifesta 5« in San Sebastian und den
Biennalen von Sharjah, Moskau und Sevilla. Einzelausstellungen
widmeten ihm u. a. die Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt und das
MARTa, Herford.
At
the invitation of the cultural department of the city of
Pulheim, berlin artist Michael Sailstorfer implemented his
project »Pulheim gräbt« in the context of the »Stadtbild.
Intervention« series. On a brownfield site on the Jakobstrasse
(opposite ALDI and an off-licence), Sailstorfer buried gold to
the value of 10,000 Euro in August 2009; a total of 14 10-gram
ingots and 14 20-gram ingots. Afterwards he sowed the open
space with yellow mustard seed. After the press conference in
the Pulheim town hall on thursday 29th October 2009, the city
of Pulheim and the artist handed over the urban wasteland to
the population. this meant that everyone was invited to start
digging for gold on this piece of land in Pulheim and try out
their luck ... and then gold fever broke out in Pulheim!
To
accompany this, a documentation folder designed by the artist
was created, which with numerous photographs, press texts, an
interview and an essay, relives the spectacular action, which
attracted widespread media coverage. Michael Sailstorfer
studied at the academy of fine arts,munich under Olaf Metzel,
and at Goldsmiths College in London. He took part in the
exhibition »Made in Germany« in the Kestnergesellschaft,
Hannover, in »Manifesta 5« in San Sebastian and the biennales
in Sharjah, Moscow and Seville. Solo exhibitions were dedicated
to him by the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt and the
MARTa, Herford, among others.
