Claus Bury, der durch seine großen
architektonischen Skulpturen in Landschaften
und städtischen Räumen bekannt geworden ist, wird in
Nürnberg zum ersten Mal in allen Facetten seines
künstlerischen Schaffens vorgestellt. Der
Künstler hat anfänglich Schmuckstücke geschaffen, die
sich durch ihre ungewohnten Materialien wie farbiges
Acrylglas und farbige Metall-Legierungen
auszeichnen und ihn zu einem Protagonisten der sich
gerade formierenden internationalen
Autorenschmuck-Szene
werden ließen.
Bereits in diesen
frühen Arbeiten wie dann auch in seinen Metallreliefs
wird sein Interesse für strukturale Systeme evident.
Seit Ende der 70er
Jahre entwickelt der Künstler
architektonische Skulpturen, die immer auf die besondere
Situation der
Umgebung bezogen und
häufig begehbar sind. Auf diese Entwicklung von kleinen
Schmuckstücken bis hin zu großen architektonischen
Skulpturen bezieht sich der Titel Maßstabssprünge.
Die Ausstellung in
Nürnberg und die begleitende monografische Publikation
präsentieren erstmalig in größerem Umfang die frühen
Schmuckstücke und Schmuckentwürfe ab den 60er Jahren und
zeigen Architekturmodelle sowie die raumgreifende
begehbare Skulptur »Gewächshaus für Gedanken«.
Claus Bury, who has
become well-known for his large architectural
sculptures in landscapes and urban spaces, will be
presented in Nuremberg for the first time in all the
facets of his artistic work. The artist initially
made jewelry which stood out due to its
unusual materials, such as colored acrylic glass and
colorful metal alloys, and making him, despite
his young age, a protagonist of the international art
jewelry scene that was just becoming established.
In these early works,
and later in his metal reliefs, his interest in
structural systems is already evident. Since the end of
the 70s the artist has been developing architectural
sculptures which he always adapts to the
particular situation of the surroundings, and which are
also frequently walk-through. The title “Massstabssprünge”
(Leaps in Scale) alludes to this trajectory from small
pieces of jewelry to architectural sculptures.
The exhibition in
Nuremberg and the accompanying monograph for the first
time presents on a large scale the early jewelry works and
designs of the artist since the 60s. In addition Claus
Bury is showing architecture models, as well as the large
scale walk-through sculpture »Gewächshaus für Gedanken«
(Greenhouse for Thoughts), through which visitors can
assume other
positions and
perspectives.
